It wouldn’t be a blog without a post about New Year’s Resolutions, which are especially important when you are divorced. First, let me suggest you insert the word “goal” for “resolution”. Why? I don’t know about you, but for me the word resolution is just dying to be broken, so I never follow through. But, when I set goals for myself, I always make an effort to achieve them.

Find your happiness in the year 2011. Whether you are finishing, have finished or just starting the divorce process, make an effort to find your happiness. You are now in a new situation because you didn’t have your happiness in the old one. Look at it from a new perspective…you are lucky that you get a second chance at happiness, so go and find it! If you don’t know what that happiness is, find someone to talk to who can help you define your happiness.

I AM GOING TO FIND MY HAPPINESS IN 2011!

Find your peace in the year 2011. The strife and struggle of the divorce is behind you and now it is time to find your peace. Whether that is a quiet place to read a book or a yoga class, this is the year for you to find peace and relaxation. Between work and children it is not easy to find peace, but if you can find it within, you will reflect it on the outside.

I AM GOING TO FIND MY PEACE IN 2011!

Find yourself in the year 2011. You are now a table for one. Before you move into a relationship with someone else, start a relationship with yourself. Find out who you are. You have been part of a unit for so long, that you now can spread your wings and do things your way and do things you love. Find that you and fall in love with yourself all over again.

I AM GOING TO FALL IN LOVE WITH ME IN 2011!

Whether your goal is to go back to school to finish that degree you gave up for marriage and kids or to find that perfect job or to have more patience with your kids, this is the year for you. Make this your year and embrace your new life with open arms and your new life will embrace you back.
